My endoscopy biopsy showed "chronic gastritis", however the doctor doing the procedure did not "see" any gastritis.

I have no stomach pain so I am kind of surprised by that finding.

I am wondering if chronic gastritis with no pain would lead to reflux, or a weakening/relaxing of the LES?

I believe that there is an association with the two.

A doctor told me that gastritis and acid reflux were separate entities :-/

However, in practice I think people find a flare up of one can aggravate the other.

I have gastritis and oesophagitis but I can't always separate which symptoms belong to which. I tend to associate a constant false hunger sensation and nausea with the gastritis element, but that may not be other people's experience.

Yes, gastritis can affect the "pliability" or flexibility of the lining of stomach, causing it to not deal with over-eating as easily. When that happens, the stomach does not stretch as effectively to compensate for the extra food, causing it to sit towards the top and go back up the LES.....hope that makes sense.
