Hello all -

I have a question for the ladies: I am 3 mos. post nissen, but I am still having trouble wearing a bra. I am pretty busty, so before the surgery I always wore a bra with an underwire for support. I cannot do that anymore; whenever I try, I get pain in my lower esophagus/stomach, where my wrap must be. Even my sports bras have been uncomfortable, so I am wearing only tank tops with the built-in bra. Lately I've had a few instances where even that made me uncomfortable. I usually have to put my hand in between my stomach and the elastic band of the top, and that relieves the pain/pressure.

My question is, has anyone else had this experience? Does it get better with time? Is there anything else I could do or wear to be more comfortable?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Alison,

I have not had this surgery but I do know women who have had similar problems finding a good bra post op .  This is one I would take a look at as I find this brand makes a good undegarment. Wacoal Bra, Awareness Wireless Bra 85276 . You can just Google and find info re this recommendation.    No underwire is a plus post-op.  I am sure you will be hearing from others.

Kindly,
Kitt

My bra never bothered me post op and I'm very busty too (44DD).
I find the playtex comfort strap supportive enough and comfortable.

I didn't wear one for the 6 weeks I was off. As Kitt said, Wacoal has good ones without the wire. I still prefer underwire with some of my clothing. Usually pull it off as soon as I get home. The best sport bras are still uncomfortable just because of where they hit you around the chest. Cheap, stretchy ones don't give much support but are not as annoying. What's a girl to do?

I too had issues with this after my NF surgery just over a year ago. I found that I had to buy bras that had good cushioned straps and flat comfortable bands around the chest and back. It doesn't bother me much now but I still cannot wear underwires. Just too uncomfortable...

Hang in there it will get better.. just kind of relax and let your recovery flow...
