Hello, this is my first post, but I've read a lot on this forum and have learned much. Thanks to all.
Brief history: On PPI's for 10 years. Have had some evidence of Barretts in the past, but recent endoscopy shows that it apears to have healed up. I know the omeperzole has negatively affected me and have tried to go off of it several times. Only made it a few days until this last attempt which lasted about 6 weeks. I was actually feeling better, but then developed what I presume are LPR symptoms - bad cough, constricted throat, feeling of breathing in hot air, chest discomfort, etc. (no typical heartburn symptoms at all though). So had to go back on the omeperazole. This alleviates the cough, but still have other symptoms. I also have a dsyfunctional gall bladder (Hida Scan shows 8 % ejection rate). Have had good success in the past alleviating these symptoms with the olive oil flush procedure, but recently, only temporary success. I will be getting a surgeons opinion about removal in a couple of weeks.
This brings me to my question. Of all the typical symptoms that I have read about associated with GERD/LPR and gall bladder disease, I don't recall anyone mentioning the symptoms that often bother me the most - fatigue, light headiness, and an overall "sick" feeling. This fluctuates over a period of days from not being too bad, to so bad that it is a struggle to make it through a day. I'm retired and don't know how I would manage if I had to go to work for 8 hours.
Have others experienced this symptom of feeling really sick? I'm been trying to sort this all out, and the relationship between the reflux stuff and gall bladder issues, or whether there is something else going on. Haven't had any real help from the GI or other doctors. Any information would be appreciated.
