Ok guys I have been absolutely suffering from gerd.
I take 20mg of Nexium in the evenings. It helps some but like today I had a Dr Pepper
for breakfast and a couple small breakfast tacos.
I have been miserable all day.
I also have anxiety also and when my gerd flares up it makes my anxiety peek too.
I take 1mg of Xanex 2x a day for the anxiety. It helps but really I think I need to be taking 3 per day.
1. Do u think I should go up in my nexium ?? Also if I double should a take 40mg at once or take at separate times ??
2. I have been looking at TIF surgery.
Not a big fan of surgery but if it would get rid of the throat clearing, coughing crap up, pressure in my chest, hurting in my chest, neck, back, arms
If it helps those I'm down for it.
What do y'all think ??
I'm just so sick of fighting off panic attacks and I know the gerd brings them on.
I do visit with a "talk doctor" and a mental doctor for medicine.
Sorry I never can think of the correct names for them.
Any help is appreciated !!!
Thanks

I agree, you have to make the diet changes. I still struggle with symptoms but they are not as bad with the diet. Also you may want to use deep breathing techniques to help with the anxiety and stress piece: Breathe in for 4 seconds, out for 4 seconds and then sit for 4 seconds. Repeat. It does help. Do this throughout the day. Anxiety and stress causes your stomache to produce more acid so even if you are on medication to decrease the acid, you still produce it. GERD feeds off of anxiety.

Stay away from caffine, coffee, soda, chocolate, spicy foods and spices, fatty foods, fried foods, tomatoes, alcohol (in moderation you can have a drink or two but it should be a nuetral drink like rum in water...although it is neutral, alcohol still relaxes that stupd LES mucsle.) You may also want to look into a anxiety medication that is not a benzo (Xaqnax is) which may relax the LES msucle also. SSRIs like zoloft, celexa, lexapro are not benzos so they will not cause the muscle to relax and can help manage anxiety.
