Yesterday I took a shower and removed the dressings. I have 14 staples and look like I have been machine gunned!!!! I have never had staples and am not looking forward to having them removed Wednesday morning.

How bad is it to have staples removed?

Diet is going OK and my husband is baking bread and making chicken soup for tonight. That should give a boost to the healing process! Chicken soup is always good. I will have to toast the bread though.

So far, no more swallowing difficulty, no nausea or any other problems. I just took some metamucil and hope that gets my "innards" working. Still taking pain pills for the pain across my shoulders and neck. I hope that goes away soon.

I have not used my bi pap machine or puffers for asthma since before surgery and I have a lot of energy. Yesterday I baked cookies! My constant cough has completely gone away! Are these benefits from the surgery?

Sandy, you can't even feel the staples being removed :) Don't worry!

No more coughing is one of the great benefits of the surgery.

You may not feel you need your bipap anymore but your sleep apnea has not changed. You really need to use it until you're reevaluated by your doctor who perscribed it.

thanks for the information.

Also, this awful cough will continue to keep it's distance. In the past I actually have withdrawn from group activiities so the coughing would not bother other people. It was constant for about the past 4 years!!

I will not worry about thee staples. I will not worry about the staples. I will not....

I was glued and stitched. The glue peeled off in less than two weeks and I was scared I wasn't ready for it to come off.
