I'm 3 weeks post op and feeling pretty good. Following diet but my only concern is that i get tired rather quickly. My body has no energy. I returned to work after 12 days, on my feet all day. weight restriction of 5lbs. I come home after about 6 hours of work totally exhausted. Is this normal? Any type of supplements i can take?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,

This all sounds about right... You had major surgery! I remember returning to work about 16 days after my last fundo, and that I needed to take a nap in the middle of the work day just to make it through. That lasted for at least a couple more weeks.

Even when you begin to feel a little stronger, keep in mind that during your operation you lost a tremendous amount of connective tissue, and that your body will be working for months to repair itself. Try not to push yourself too hard, because you want your body to fix itself correctly to make the repair last as long as possible. The harder you push, the more likely you are to damage the repair and need to go through the whole thing again (like me...).

Hi Dave,
It sounds TOTALLY normal.  Because your outsides heal quicky, it's hard to remember the havoc that was wroght on your insides!  They've been through MAJOR surgery, and there's a lot of healing to be done.  On top of that, your eating is limited because of the recovery as well.

It'll get better.  Baby yourself right now.  Give in to the urge to nap.  It'll help you heal.
Best wishes,
Denise
