Hi all ! I've posted here before but just want to update and here others peoples thoughts on the subject...

I ended up getting a soar throat about 3 weeks ago that I thought was acid reflux. I would feel a feeling of reguritation go up and down my throat and if freaked me out! I thought acid was gonna shoot up and out...I couldnt eat my throat got so soar and red. I ended up having an infection that lasted about 2 weeks. I took antibiotics and was shooting yellow stuff out forever, which makes me think the feeling in the throat must have been from the infection. I bring this up because I'm a little confused with my situation, and if I even have one at all.

Like I've stated before I've had a lot of tests done.
3 EGDs
Digestion Test with chemicals inside the food
Upper GI with lower bowel follow through
Colonoscopy
Esophogram
HidaScan
Chest X-Ray

Maybe more that I can't remember...My latest EGD just showed that I have gasritis and the duodenum walls were reduced (said I have Celiac Disease and Biopsies have proven it) but that there has been no damage done at all..

I just also got my esophogram which has shown no reflux and no spams.

Yet....I get stomache pain, my throat hurts and I have difficulty swallowing, I'm losing weight, I have shortness of breath, and I burp a lot.

All of my tests have came back completely normal otherwise.

When this problem started 3 years ago...I went to bed and got pain in my left arm, following I got instant shortness of breath and started to burp a lot. I ended up in the ER with a panic attack and also sinusitus.

I am wondering if it is possible I don't even have GERD...In the early stages I didn't have much symptoms besides the breathing problems and the constant burping.

I have been told by a lot of doctors that it was just anxiety, and during that time I also had a lot of anxiety.

I was breaking up with a girlfriend, starting my first job, graduating higschool, and also went threw a very traumatizing experience 2 months before I had this start where I thought I was dieing.

I know I suffer with anxiety, and I'm going to start getting help seeing a therapist to treat it.

I'm just in a lost state not knowing what is up with me because it seems like gerd. I'm not sure if taking Nexium and Rinitidine is good if I don't or are causing side affects of their own!

you need a

dual probe PH study (one probe near throat)

manometry test.

after that you will definitely know if reflux is hitting your throat.

Have you tried Zantac or Prilosec as a trial? Many times doctors use that to help with the diagnosis.. if it helps ease your symptoms, it's because there's less acid getting up there.

Good Morning !  Wondering what you are doing for the Celiac Disease ?  The best and only known treatment that I have read about  for CD is simple - a lifelong elimination of "gluten".

I suspect that your anxiety may be causing some of your symptoms.  Along with the worry and dread, people with generalized anxiety have physical symptoms, such as chest pain, headache, tiredness, tight muscles, stomachaches, or vomiting.

For people dealing with anxiety disorders, symptoms can feel strange and confusing at first. For some, the physical sensations can be strong and upsetting. For others, feelings of doom or fear that can happen for no apparent reason can make them feel scared, unprotected, and on guard. Constant worries can make a person feel overwhelmed by every little thing. All this can affect someone's concentration, confidence, sleep, appetite, and outlook.

A particular type of talk therapy called cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) is often used to help a person deal with their anxiety issues.  In CBT, a person learns new ways to think and act in situations that can cause anxiety, and to manage and deal with stress.

I am going to post a link to a free on-line version of CBT and you can work on this program right from home.

Also you may find these links helpful in learning how to control anxiety:

I hope you can get a resolution regarding this situation.  Please feel free to post anytime you need to talk about how you are feeling.  We are here to support you and offer help when we can.

Kindly,

Kitt

My doctor called me today and said my Ana blood test came back positive today. She didn't have much to say besides that she's gonna send me to a new rheumatory specialists for more tests. She said it might solve what's been going on with me. Thing is I do have celiacs disease and hope that's not the main thing showing is because I'd be back at square one. I don't get to ask if it could be my celiacs and won't be able for a while, but she knows I have celiac. Hope I find out soon

Are you fully compliant with gluten free diet now?

I looked quickly at the medical literature for you; there is a shared "genetic susceptiblity" between coeliac disease, diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. It may be that one of the blood markers for auto immune arthritis has flagged something up and they've referred you for further investigation. You are within your rights to ask for a copy of the referral letter, or you can make an appointment with your GP/PCP to get the specifics of the blood results if you don't want to wait for the rheumatologist's explanation!

Hope you get some answers soon,

PS: sorry, forgot to say ANA is antinuclear factor. It tests for auto immune disease and if positive can (but need other tests to verify) be a sign of rheumatoid arthritis, SLE (lupus) and other auto immune problems. Given that you have coeliac disease, however, rheumatoid arthritis is more likely.

Remember that having a positive test result does not necessarily mean you have that problem for certain - tests can detect things that produce no symptoms or just remain dormant. The reason for the referral will be to investigate whether you have any auto immune problems and you will probably have further blood tests to see if the positive ANA holds any clinical significance at all.

Let us know how it goes

Yes I have had a hida scan that came back normal for my gallbladder. At the moment only positive things ive found in studies and tests is celiac disease and gasritis with a little delayed emptying. No tests have shown reflux damage or even seen me reflux. Ent did find some soarness I believe he said above my vocal cords but not bad and everything looked good after scope just bad allergies.

I have been on a celiac diet for a little under 3 years now. It was hard to start at first, and I still no very little about it, but I eat very well gluten free stuff and have been sticking to the lpr food list from the koufman diet. I know I've messed up now and then, but it's hard to keep on track all the time.

I'll be calling my doctor shortly to see if they'll give me any more info of exactly what the test said. All I know is I was happy when I heard the message just because I thought maybe I'd find an answer to my issues, but then realized it could just be my celiac. Hard being 21 and being left out of a lot of stuff

I've also have wondered regarding my results...gasritis, delayed emptying, and celiac disease if I actually don't produce ENOUGH acid. Ive read how not having enough acid may also cause acid reflux. I saw a nutritionist about 3 months ago and said he was 90% sure after talking to me and seeing my test results that this was the problem. I took betain and pepsin but not super religiously and was also still on my 2x nexium and 2x Zantac a day which he said I needed to wean off. I eventually stop the treatment shortly after, not for any particular reason area, just that I thought giving me more acid was absurd !

I wonder if anyone here has any experience of this ? I would like to try it again, because it feels like I have gerd/bloating/belching etc...but no damage done within my esophagus or Anywhere.
