I am currently taking NEXIUM and have been for little over a year. It has been working fine up until the last couple months. I have GERD with the added benefit of IBS and UC and anxiety issues sprinkled on top. I am wanting to know what other options there are out there that I could ask about or try.
In the past when I went through a period it did not work I would take PREVICID for a couple days and go back onto the NEXIUM. But that is not doing it this time around. Do you build up a tolerance to it or is it possible I had the luck of the draw and last 2 refills were not good??
In pain and confused and would really really like to have a day where I did not feel like I was going to throw up all over myself. Any input would be appreciated.

I went through this with Protonix...however, I realized it stopped working because I had not been watching my diet. Are you on a GERD diet? If not, I would strongly recomend getting on one as it does help. If that does not help you could try switching to another PPI. People have reported that medication can lose its effectiveness. There are other PPI drugs. I will probably be switching to another one also as my protonix helps but I still have symptoms even on a restricted diet. I am not a fan of PPI drugs but for now I have to use them.
Diagnosed GERD, no other medical conditions (this one is enough)

I am not really on a GERD diet persay. I have learned what I can and can not eat --which is a longer list then I would like. But I have pretty much maintained the same diet for the past 2 years so I wouldnt think its a diet thing. However I would be interested in finding out what people have found diet wise that works. I am always open to ideas that may buy me even 2 good days back to back.

I am on a low acid, low carb, low fat and low dairy diet. Mainly lean protein such as chicken, turkey and fish with non acidic veggies and fruits. No seasoning besides salt and I use olive oil. It is hard but it has really helped me.
