sorry for the long post and horrible punctuation but please read

my case has been very complex im 26 years old all my problems started when i was 21

i had a bad reaction to a medicine stopped eating basically lost 40lbs in 2 months, wound up with gastritis from change in eating habits, was admitted to the hospital for dehydration

i was put on nexium various dosing throughout the next few months 40mg then 40 mg twice a day then back down

that was in april of 07...in june of 07 i started feeling palpitations they werent on and off but basically i was aware of my heartbeat at all times whether it was beating normal or not i just felt it all the time. went to the cardiologist was diagnosed with pvcs was put on atenolol

fast fwd about 2 years to 09 im still on nexium once a day 40 mg and atenolol and various allergy meds

now throughout those 2 years i had digestive issues mostly concerning the bathroom i would have alternating loose and constipation movements they said possible ibs i just went with it

so now in 09 all the sudden i start feeling a constant burning in my stomach and also a burning diaherra starts happening frequently i wind up going to the dr i get an upper endoscopy and he says i have bile reflux prescribed me carafate 4 times a day

well anyone who knows about carafate knows its almost impossible to take 4 times a day for alot of people so the most i ever took it was 3 times a day but mostly 2 times a day and im still doing that now

i had sonograms, blood tests, nothing abnormal showed.. i wound up going to a different doctor cause i was still in pain and nothing was helping had another endoscopy which shows the same thing and this dr also says i have a small hiatal hernia

he tried me on some other meds i forget what they were but they did nothing, during this time also had a bravo capsule test done and nothing new from that as well

so now here we are almost 2-3 years later after that pain started and im still having the same problem

let me reiterate it is literally a almost a constant burn in my stomach and some times chest so not your typical reflux that needs to be set off by something

i still have bathroom issues as well..ive read things that have me beleive ppi mediciation might be causing alot of this or even all of this..but its so hard to get off the med especially since i still have gastritis so any increase in acid or bile just makes that feel worse

the last few weeks i started feeling a sore throat and some very little chest pain not sure if thats related or just from stress this only usually happens during a flare up, but now this too has been pretty constant. the sore throat comes and goes during the day it seems……im not coughing its not hard to swallow i dont think its worse after i eat so im not sure whats going on there now

ive tried so many natural remedies that either help very little, dont help at all or make things worse

dgl,probiotics,digestive enzymes,fennel,slippery elm,aloe vera juice,apple cider vin

i take alot of that still daily the things that make the burning worse are lily of the dessert aloe vera juice and i only tried apple cider when i was trying to get off the meds and that made things worse to

im really lost, ive spent so much money that i dont have trying to find someway to feel even a little better and it doesnt seem to be happening i really dont know what to do at this point ive gone to 3 different specialist they all have been lost to basically

so i feel going back to the doctor is a waste

so there it is dont know what to do anymore i have anxiety and depression over this now.its affected my life tremendously over these years havnt been able to push my self to get a job..its affected my relationship with my girlfriend of 8 years since i dont always feel up to doing things..i mean im 26 years old and the last few years of my life ive been living like im 40 and i havnt been able to enjoy my life to the fullest

I understand your frustration. Sorry to hear about all your troubles.

I am not sure what to say, but keep fighting, don't give up. I know what you mean about gf and not having fun or relationship with something like this.

You are your best dr.

You said you tried natural remedies and so have I. Some of them help others do not.

I know you tested for many things, but did you test for h pylori?
What was te drug you had an allergic reaction to?

What about your gallbladder? Any issues there?

What about an allergen free diet?

Have you tried different diets?

What about stronger probiotics?

What about a thorough stool test to see if you intestinal issues. Ive done a couple of these.

Manuka Honey?

Mastic Gum?

Ibergoast?

I am not saying try all these but research them and see if they can possibly help.Let me know if I can be of more assistant.

thanks for your reply

im pretty sure one of my first endoscopes i was tested for h.pylori

it wasnt so much an allergic reaction as it was just a bad reaction basically i was using an inhaler for breathing related issues due to allergies and it caused me extreme anxiety and loss of appetite and it went on for 2 months

gallbladder was last checked about a year and half ago and it was fine

my diet really hasnt changed i only change it around when i have bad flare ups..otherwise i normally can eat whatever i want with no increase in pain

by stronger probiotics can you make some suggestions?

i had a few stool tests over the years nothing showed in those i forget what exactly was tested and how extensive it was but i def probably should get that done again

manukua honey i forgot to mention i started using this this week i have the wedderspoon brand active 16+ ..i dont know why but sometimes its goes down fine and other times it actually increases the burning in my chest

mastic gum i tried for awhile didnt really notice a difference except it made me more bloated

Ibergoast i actually never heard of im going to look into that one

Look these up and see if they can help you. They are probiotics.

The stool test I've done where at special labs, they were not ordinary labs. It was DNA Stool sampling. It was like 400 dollars, I was satisfied with thoroughness. It was a lot, but I was trying to find answers. It did help me. If your interested let me know otherwise you can continue with a regular stool test with your dr.
Diagnosed with GERD/IBS in 2007. However, my symptoms are most similar to LPR. I am still unsure of the IBS diagnosis.

Currently I am taking a natural approach to my symptoms since July 2011.

Hi,
You said that you have been diagnosed with bile reflux. I may have a suggestion to help you.
I am 15 years old and I have had stomach problems all my life. I have been diagnosed with acid reflux or GERD and bile reflux. I always felt sick after eating, even if I had only eaten a small amount I would feel too full for hours, due to the bile reflux. In the spring of last year my doctor suggested that I look into pyloroplasty and nissen fundoplication (pyloroplasty for the bile reflux and nissen for the GERD). After several upper and lower GIs and other tests, they determined that these operations would be fine for me. I decided to have them and had them in July of 2011. Both tremendously helped me. I now no longer feel sick after I eat, I have gained 20 pounds over the past year (was underweight due to not being able to eat without feeling sick) and I can eat more and more often than ever before. These are great operations and as long as you have no serious complications such as stomach bleeding or anything, the risks are minimal compared to the benefits. Just find a surgeon that has done the operation(s) many times, and I would suggest having it done laporoscopically like I did. smilewinkgrin Also, as far as the bathroom problems, probiotics may help, and also try to regulate your diet. Some suggestions: (from a doctor originally) stay away from fried foods, chocolate, sodas, spicy foods, bananas, peanut butter, and onions and garlic. Try to eat fruits and vegetables also.

After reading your post I was wondering if you have ever had a colonoscopy as you referred to bathroom problems.  Just a suggestion.

The stool test I mentioned is done by Geneva(smokies lab) or Metametrix. Look them up if you can. Research and read their website.

Sounds like esophageal spasms, I get them. Mine have decreased in intensity due to a diet of protein, veggies, fruits and non mint gum.
Diagnosed GERD, no other medical conditions (this one is enough)

thats what i thought but the feeling in my chest and back is constant the throat is pretty constant to just sometimes it doesnt feel that bad

i thought the spasms would be a come and go type thing thats why i was leaning away from thinking that

also the feeling in the chest and back is really not so much painful as it is just tight and uncomfortable
