Hi guys, Mr 14 had his gastroscopy today because of increasing dysphagia (incl liquid now) the result? The GI said it was all good and could see no reason for the discomfort but go see a surgeon anyway because he's not an expert with fundos..

spied the report and it said there is a semi circumferential fundoplication in place (ummmm he had a Nissen? isn't that 360 deg?) with loose sutures in the body of the stomach..

Doesn't that imply the fundo has come undone? It would explain the symptoms as a return of the reflux and why the losec is helping a little?

Hi Leebie3,
Yes, it sounds like you're right.  Your GI doc probably doesn't want to make the call himself, but is sending him on because it looks like the wrap is no longer completely intact.  And yes, it would be a reason for both swallowing problems (if things aren't holding in the right place the wrap won't work properly) and reflux.
Good luck with your visit to the surgeon,

I agree- I had an intact wrap, but was not wrapped properly and gave me all kinds of fits with dysphagia. After I had it redone correctly all was well again. Unfortunately it took almost 3 years to find a surgeon who could figure out what the problem was.

Take care,
