Good information. You don't see a lot written about Non-Acidic reflux, or what the doctors and my surgeon called "NERD" or "Non-Erosive Reflux Disease." It may be "Non-Erosive" but it can still give you the exact same symptoms as Acid reflux.

I had acid reflux off and on for a few years until I started seriously treating it with PPIs. Unfortunately in my case, all the PPIs did was turn the GERD into NERD. All of the reflux was still there, it just had no acid in it! The 24hr impedance test registered plenty of reflux, but very little acidity.

I tried multiple PPIs, the Gaviscon Advance from the UK (I have 3 glass bottles of the stuff left), diet changes, weight loss, etc, with little to no success. In my case, a nissen fundolication was the only cure. My doctor considered Reglan, but its not sustainable... if you take it for long periods of time it greatly increases the chances of those nasty side effects. I needed a permanent fix.

Hopefully this great information can help others facing these problems.
