I got up feeling fine but right after breakfast started getting wicked intestinal cramps and made a mad dash to the toilet smhair I figured it was just the 2 bran muffins I had yesterday (TMI, sorry!), but then the cramps got worse and I started getting really queasy. I popped a zofran but not quick enough, 2 minutes later I was over the trash can with dry heaves. All that my post nissen tummy could push out was a little burp. I popped another zofran and I feel fine now. I'm hoping the fact that nothing came up means I didn't pop the nissen. But hey, at least I burped for the first time in 4 months!

I don't think it's food poisoning because I would probably still feel sick right? What is food poisoning like post nissen for those of you who have been unlucky enough to experience it? I haven't eaten anything very questionable in the last few days, but maybe my Trader Joe's egg whites were tainted. Coincidentally I had a pregnancy test at the doctors yesterday and it was negative. Who knows... That was a scary experience, I wish I knew what made me sick.

I don't think you popped your nissen. You would of felt it.

post-nissen stomach are quirky. you were wise to get the two zofran in quickly.

At 6 months I caught severe gastroenritis. I threw up for 12 hours, with 15 minutes of relief inbetween and my nissen still held tight.

gerdygirl-

What Joy said! Our stomachs can be very quirky for quite some time. I continued to carry anti nausea meds even after over 2 years. I am just about 11 months out from my 2nd redo and still get nausea once in a while for no known reason.

Take care,
Bill

Thanks Joy & Bill! Food was seeming to go down easier tonight and it made me nervous, but I'll just have to wait and see. This is the first time since surgery I've had dry heaves and I've been lucky to not really have any serious nausea until today. I'm relieved to hear other people have puked and been ok, I really don't want to screw this amazing new happy stomach :) I do miss burping though...

She1 & Joy- My medical references say zofran (ondansetron) can be taken up to 24mg in 24 hours, but doesn't really nail down the dosing and none of my books discuss overdose. The standard dose seems to be 4mg and my pills are 4mg each. Phenergan (promethazine) dosage max is 25mg every 4 hours if used for nausea. I wasn't sure if I spit up the first dose and I knew it was safe to take another one.
