My acid reflux symptoms seemed to come out of nowhere. Sure the occasional indigestion when over indulging like anyone else, but something has been wrong with me for weeks. Now that heartburn and gnawing has gone from my sternum my throat just feels odd the last several days. Almost like my windpipe has a mucous coating inside. Tonight I had a look at my tongue about halfway and back has an odd coating on it. More research indicates it might be candida? If so candida can get into intestines and cause several of the symptoms I've been dealing with. I'm going to go see the doc first thing Monday.

Diagnosis of candida infection can often be accomplished by the presence of symptoms alone. To confirm the diagnosis, however, samples of the fungus have to be identified under a microscope.

It may also be helpful to measure the pH of the stomach and first part of the small intestine because abnormalities in the acid environment of the stomach can encourage fungal infection.

Let us know what your Dr. has to say on Monday.

Thanks. Just an update. Woke up this morning feeling extremely mucousy in mouth and throat. Made some Quinoa hot cereal, added 1 teaspoon cold pressed virgin coconut oil. My tongue and mouth feel more normal than the last few days for sure after I ate this. There is still white at the back of my tongue but the mucous like feeling and cotton mouth have subsided 70%. I know coconut oil is a no no for the acid reflux diet but it's been 1 hour and I seem to have tolerated it. I'm just amazed how different my tongue feels. It's almost like a limb that has been asleep for days coming back to circulation.

went to doc, had a bit of candida on my tongue so they gave me some drops. I am hopeful a bad reaction to this candida set me off. I do have bad allergies and sensitivities so maybe it is to blame. My chest/stomach seems ok now, only remaining issue is tongue and throat feel mucus like. If the drops clear my tongue this might also clear my throat. Will see..

My sudden acid reflux problem disappeared after 3 days of eating only cooked brown rice, salad and vegetables. I intended to do a fast but I was too stressed and hungry so I opted for light eating and relaxing instead - which worked. (I should probably mention that I have been following a candida diet for some time now.)

To get rid off white tongue caused by candida I found a mouth rinse with myrrh, mint oil, sage and tea tree oil beneficial and also drinking water with two tea spoons of natural apple dider vinegar.

Hope this helps,
Sandra

Thanks. Well, one day of drops and my tongue is already clear, throat is starting to feel normal again. I am hoping a candida flare up is what caused my reflux episode. I've also been having 3 cups of organic plain acidophilous yogurt a day, plus double dose of 14 strain pro-biotics. I feel like balance is being restored to my gut.
