shakehead Hello everyone. I had a TIF/hiatial hernia repair in late December. I joined this forum, which was a wonderful, helpful thing. I stopped visiting because I was doing so well. Now, six months later, I am refluxing again and an EGD showed that part of the TIF 'fell apart.' Now I am told I need to either re-do it or opt for a full nissen.

HELP! How often does this happen? Why does it happen? I did everything I was supposed to. I now am refluxing again, on PPIs again and in addition, when I get reflux, I get nauseated and throw up. It really hurts to throw up.

I know some of you have been 'wrapped' multiple times. How did it go for you? Anyone have better luck the second time around? I am thinking about just doing the full nissen, bolt the sucker down. Thoughts?

Ask for a 270 degree. It's not so tight that food gets stuck as easy as a 360 degree.

Mine has held up very well.

Did your surgeon have any ideas why your surgery fell apart.  Is your tissue fragile ?  Any surgery can fail as you already noted that we have members that have had 3-4 fundoplication re-dos.
I have not had either surgery but I think if I was in your place I would opt for the Nissen but that is just my gut reaction.
Good luck and take care,
