A European pharmaceutical company has been researching new types of prokinetic drug to treat GI motility disorder. One such drug prucalopride has past trials and is being prescribed by doctors to treat chronic constipation. Althought it is not indicated for GERD, it is a same type of drug as cisapride/Propulsid, a powerful prokinetic drug for GERD, but was pulled of shelf due to side effects. The new drug was improved to be without the side-effects. Movetis has a few other trials going on that target GERD patients.

So hang on there, sooner we will have more options than taking -azoles.

This is very interesting. I am hopeful that in the future there will be better options for us GERD people.
Diagnosed GERD, no other medical conditions (this one is enough)

I did some digging online and from what I found, prucalopride works only for constipation, at least all the trials being conducted for FDA approval are for that. However, the other drug referred to in that article is called M0003 and it just finished a phase II trial, However, I don't know results, whether it was helpful or not. Does anyone know?
