I have been following this forum for a few months now and it has been great support and a learning experience. I do have one question though. In all seriousness - I am currently on month 8 since I have had my nissen, and I am wondering if getting a heartburn feeling after I eat meals is normal. It usually happens between 30mins to an hour or two after I eat a meal and I feel a heartburn sensation. Is this just food getting hung up a little at the valve of my esophagus or should I not feel this anymore? Will I continue to feel this? etc.

All help and advice is appreciated as always - we are all in this together thats for sure!

After this long I was pretty much symptom free after all 3 of my nissens. Everyone heals differently, so it is possible to still have some symptoms this far out. Have you contacted your surgeon or GI doctor about this? If not, I would give them a call and see what they think.
Some people do still have to take a low dose of PPIs after a nissen though. You so correct that we are all in this together. Unless someone has experienced GERD they really can't understand how horrible this is.

Take care,

Ps. I added a title to your post.

May I ask, why have you had 3 nissens? I am assuming the first 2 failed, but why? Just very curious as I haven't had my first one yet, and am still trying to decide on the
surgeon. I want to make sure I make a good all-around decision, and goodness, I hope to only have 1 nissen, ever!
