Guys,
I have not posted in a while but here I am again as my issues continue. I have Nissen 10 years ago and was fine until about 3 months ago when I felt extreme pressure in my upper stomach pushing into my chest and since then having lots of issues. I am nauseaous all the time, if I could vomit I would but because of the Nissen I can't. I get very bloated, chest pains, tightness in the throat, indigestion and lots of chills from the stomach pain. I also noticed I feel much worse when I eat something fatty - when I keep my diet clean I feel little better. I get full just by drinking a sip of water in the morning - also feel like I need to burp but I can't and have that pressure in upper stomach/chest that gas or whatever it is is pressing against the wrap causing either esophageal spasms and pain. I am also feeling burning in the stomach sometimes and pain goes to my back as well. I had endoscopy with ultrasound - doctor said everything looked good besides mild gastritis (3 month ago - been taking aciphex). I also called my surgeon and did barium test and he said it looked great and that the wrap is still intact. So since my endoscopy and barium came back normal, all I am left with is Aciphex that that doesn't really do anything - I don't even feel like what I have is reflux because it doesn't really feel the same as it used to for so many years before I had the surgery.

I have an appointment with another Gastro doctor on Wednesday so I am hoping he can help me figure out what the problem is. Maybe he can do HIDA scan to see if my gallbladder is OK since I feel much worse after eating fatty foods - I am really hoping he can figure out the problem because I am struggling.

My question is did anyone have gall bladder issues after they had Nissen and what were the symptoms - also, what fixed the issue? Did anyone had it removed and did that fix the problem? I am sorry to ask so many questions, but when you don't feel good you are desparate to find some relive and answers.

Thank you.

rager-

I had my gallbladder out before my nissen, but it seems like a lot of us do have our gallbladders removed. Not sure if it's a trend or not though.

I have dull to sharp pain in my right shoulder blade and sometimes in the middle of my back when I ate anything fatty. It took me 3 ER trips and finally my GI ordering a hida scan to show my gallbladder wasn't working. 2 different ER docs said it couldn't be my gallbladder because I didn't have stones and I wasn\t a female and over 40.

Take care,
Bill

It did stop the pain after eating fatty stuff, but I still had GERD to deal with.

Thanks Bill - well I already had Nissen and I am possible having gall bladder issues because I have lots of pressure in upper abdomen and it feels like all the gas and food I eat puts pressure on my wrap and causes pain and spasms. I am going to see a doctor on Wednesday and hopefully get some answers.

Thank you.

How long after you eat fatty type foods does the pain kick in? I had a couple specific ones that would cause almost immediate pain. I'd say less than a minute. My biggest one was french fries.

Take care,
Bill

HI rager
My symptoms were identical to yours and were accompanied by breathing problems after I reherniated my stomach. When I eventually had surgery my surgeon fixed the hiatus in 2 places, and told me that he had to repair( not redo ) the wrap because it had, from what I can gather slipped.
I have similar problems now, 5 months post op. I too was scoped pre op and he said no hernia and wrap in tact. It wasn't until he did surgey to remove query adhesions, that he believed were causing the pain, did he find the rest. It's frustrating and oh boy,if only I knew what I know now.
As for gallbladder, I still have it thank God although a HIDA did show slow refill and common duct dilated 7mm otherwise thankfully ok.
Regards
Buzz

Thank you guys for your help.

Bill, I don't really get severe pain after I eat - I get more of a feeling of indigestion and burning and feel like gas, food or acid is pressing against my wrap causing chest pains, neck tightness and symptoms similar to reflux. I was OK and it started all of the sudden so I am not sure what it is - only thing I came up with is gallbladder but ofcourse that's self diagnose. I get chills and feel like I need to vomit but nothing will get through my wrap. I feel like my stomach and areas are sore and when I press on it it hurts more - maybe gas? Going to different gastro doctor tomorrow so we will see what he says.

Went to see another doctor today - he thinks my problems are anxiety related. He told me to take it easy and anxiety meds should help - well that was something I could have told myself too - ugh. He did however send me for HIDA scan to see if gallbladder is causing my problems. I will know more on monday. I just wonder how would I get neck tightness from gallbladder problem?

Hi Guys, so I had HIDA scan yesterday - waiting for results but when they started to give me some enzymes I started to get similar symptoms I have been getting for few months now. Does this mean my gallbladder is not working correctly? Does anyone have this happen? I am just trying to figure out what it meant. Thank you.
