I haven't heard of light exercising causing pain nor have I experienced it but I wouldn't doubt that it would be caused by the GERD. I do have the pain with lifting and bending down as well. Have you been tested for hiatal hernia? When I told my doctor about the pain I get lifting or bending he told me that I need to go in for a test. Just a thought. :)

I think it can happen as area around ephagous is under spasm due to gerd and any pressure in these muscles may further irritate it.

Oh well, another thing I can blame the gerd for, yes I have been x ray'd for hiatal hernia and the doctor's say I haven't got one, Im not so sure myself, the pain I suffer is right under the breastbone, it never changes, also it never makes any diference what I eat.

Hi, bedwedge:

It is also hard for me to exercise with GERD (even lightly).  I choke when I try to swim.  I have shortness of breath when I try to run.  Lifting weights is hard on the breastbone...(sigh)...

I have no problem exercising on a empty stomach. How long do you wait after eating before you exercise?

Good question, I think that because most of my symptoms are in my throat (like a choking sensation), it is there whether or not I eat (unfortunately)...
