I do not know were to post anymore as I do not understand what is going on with me for 7! months. All the extensive tests show i have gerd and lpr but ppis are of little benefit, they just take the egde off. Have been on all drugs possible motility, antacids, different ppis double doses, acupuncture, amitriptiline, all lifestyle changes. Nothing helps or not enough. It is ruining my life and about to ruin my family. I can understand that burning in the neck can be from lpr as well as the clogged ears, and even headache etc. But i also have constant backache along the spine that goes kind of up and down. Not burning but aching as if in need of massage but massage helps only while it is being done. The pain intensifies if i lean back against the chair as soon as the back feels the surface of the chair or lie down on my back. There is no particular spot that would ache and does not feel like something is misplaced. I am sure it is not from physical strain or a disc.Just dull constant pain going up and down along the spine. It is driving me crazy. I'm thin zo it has nothing to do with weight. I lost à lot of it on the diet already. Hence no period for 5 months. Ppis have helped with chestpain so i'm not sure if this backache is related to gerd. Has anyone experienced anything similar? I never had problems with my back before and it all blew off with gerd on one day. But again i dont think gerd can give this 24/7 backache. I dont know what to do anymore, doctors do not know either, painkillers do not help, exercising does not help. I am tired of being sick i'm not à woman i used to be. I dont remember what it is like to feel normal anymore. Just desperate.....Thank you

Story,

So sorry to hear of your issues. I also get back pain, but it is most often after meals. The vagus nerve runs behind the esophagus and it could be possible that you have some vagus nerve damage from reflux. Have you been through all of the tests like endoscopy, PH Monitor, Mamotry, Barium Swallow? You will need to get these tests done for further answers. Once they are done, the doctor can discuss a possible suergy option if that is what is needed. What sort of lifestyle changes have you tried?

If diet and medication doesn't help the only option left is surgery.
I'm glad I had mine done.

Remember that the PPIs will only slow stomach acid production. If you are refluxing then what is in your stomach will still reflux even if the PPI reduces the acid which causes the burning feeling. Some people are sensitive to reflux even with the reduced acid from a PPI. My reflux gave me an uncomfortable feeling and slight pain even while on the PPI. Since my TIF the uncomfortable feeling and pain have gone away.

Thank you all. Yes i have all the tests done. My Demeester score showed very high so à lot of reflux. The rest are normal. I'm thinking of getting Linx. It is just hard to believe that gerd and lor can cause this level of constant discomfort. I wonder if it could be something else like neurological. I go to bed with pain and wake up with pain. The backache does not depend on meals. I sleep on incline but this also has no influence. No meat, no fat, nothing acidic etc. My throat huts less than before but now it is the back, i do not get it and i feel guilty to be so sick all the time for so long. As if my body went on an afwul long strike. I am glad your surgeries worked for you. Ericapiece what kind of backache do hou get?

My back ache is a sharp floating pain that is more bothersome after meals. It varies from between my shoulder blades down to the middle or lower back. Some times I can feel it around my ribs but that is less than it used to be. I think that the reflux is irritating the nerves there. Other than the back pain and mild heartburn vapor feeling, and a very slight sore throat, I have managed to get the rest of my symptoms under control. The back ache does not bother me as much as the other symptoms I was having (chest pain, esophageal spasms, stomache irritation). I try and make sure I sit up straight and don't bend over as much as possible.
