My Nissen surgery was in April and I promised then to keep you all posted. Following the Nissen, I stayed in hospital only overnight. Recovery at home was easy and with very few problems.

I suffered the serious, and not so funny, gas problems! That went on for a long time...several weeks and I even went to the emergency room! They gave me a shot of morphine and kept me for the night. It turns out that I not only had gas but the intestines were FULL of .... It took a week to get back to normal but the gas problem continues, just not so bad.

The other post surgery problem was the development of an incisional hernia. Today I finally had surgery to correct that and it was done as day surgery. The surgeon used mesh to hold things together so hopefully I am on my way to recovery - again. I have another month of very light lifting and light duty around the house. It will be good to be over this long period of being a semi invalid.

In spite of all this, I am glad that I had the surgery and wish others well!

Hi Sandy,
Thanks for checking in and letting us know how you're doing!  It is great to hear that your other surgery is behind you and you're finally heading toward recovery.  It's good to hear that with all you've been through, you still have a positive attitude toward your Nissen.  I'm sure that will be very comforting for those who are at the early recovery stage or considering a Nissen surgery.
Best wishes!
Denise

Sandy,

Thanks for the update and I am glad to know that you are glad that you chose the surgery.  As many of us know with surgery we get the good and the not so good but in the end I hope it all goes good as you continue to heal.

Kindly,
Kitt
