Hi everyone!

First off, thanks to you all for posting your stories - this site has been so helpful to me lately! I am a 28 year old female, born with GERD but it wasn't fixed at the time and I have had pretty limited treatment. I have taken Protonix but it kept me up at night, and Omeprazole helps short-term but it always seems to come back.

Symptoms are: fairly constant burning sensation (though this does improve some depending on how well I'm eating), sore throat and sour taste each morning, and chronic sinus problems. I had a laryngoscopy a few years back and was told there is a granuloma on my larynx due to acid.

I saw my doc last week and reported that I'm having daily problems (not currently taking any meds) and he referred me to a GI doc for an endoscopy and suggested surgery may be the best option for me. The endoscopy is scheduled for the 5th, and I was just wondering - if it is determined that I'm a good candidate for surgery, I know there will be a few more tests first, but what will the timeline look like? If I do have to have the procedure, I'd rather try to do it in December because I'm currently a graduate student and want to do it during my break from classes to minimize interruption. Is that realistic, or is it likely that the tests/scheduling/etc. will take longer? How long was it for you from the first appointment/test to the surgery date?

Thanks for any insight!

I Know you can make your own time line. I went to the TIF seminar in May to learn about it. Saw my surgeon in July. Did not have the surgery till October. So you should be able to schedule all your pre- surgical testings and surgery to fit your schedule.
Best wishes and Best of Luck!!
Anne :-)

Hopefully quickly, my doctors have been so booked up and slow with help it's been taking awhile :/ Just be persistent!

Thanks for the info guys! Upper endoscopy scheduled for the 5th of November. Hopefully it goes well but I'm a bit nervous... I hope I qualify for surgery - everyone seems to have such improved quality of life after.

Good luck NoDoubtLove!
