Hi My Friends,
Some of you know that I live in Philadelphia. Hurricane Sandy is on the way to creating issues for Philadelphia and many other areas. I will do my best to keep up with the forum, but I may lose power. Also, my husband and I have been renovating our kitchen ourselves, so not only is there a hurricane outside, but inside too! I'm hoping this storm only puts me out of commission for a few days. To everyone being affected by the hurricane, please be safe!

Good luck, Erica!
It's heading our way, too (Rochester NY area), but we're going to get a wrap-around storm over Lake Ontario...21 ft. waves, very high winds...

If we keep power I'll do my best to keep up with everything here...we shall see!
Wish us all luck, and a safe couple of days.

Take care, Erica, and don't worry about the forum.
Your safety is the most important thing.
Best wishes to one and all!

Be safe!! We all will pray you do not suffer too much if any damage from this Storm. I have 2 brothers is Pittsburgh Pa and another good friend in Fair Fax CT. I am really concerned about her, but she is calm and has a good generator as the last big tropical storm, She and her family lost power for eight day. I Hope after the big Hurricane you can continue work on your kitchen,. Best wishes!! :-)

Despite the advanced warning for things like this you always see pictures of some individuals of doubtful intelligence driving vehicles through flood water with their high-beams glowing below the surface.

* edit - saw a picture of this on cnn.com yesterday :(

As usual, acidrefluxman, you have that dry wit working even during the most difficult of times.

Hope everyone did OK through the storm.  I am sorry I was not online as much as I should have been.  I know of more than one member right here in this forum who was in the path of the storm and my thoughts and prayers were with you and continue to be as you try to get your life back to normal.

Gentle Hugs,

Thanks, Kitt.
Like you, I will be glad when we hear from our forum friends who were closer to the worst of the storm.  Hopefully they'll be back online soon, and were not too badly affected by the storm.  It was definitely a scary one!

ARM-

When I was in Va. Beach we always had hurricane parties, either at the base or at Sandbridge. Nothing like getting pounded by one of those waves that break over the see wall!

Take care,
Bill

Just an update: we survived the hurricane with minimal damage. My work has been closed for 2 days. There are trees down everywhere and power outages. Plus flooding . New jersey got the worst of it. Tomorrow is my first day back to work. Anxious to see how long it takes me to arrive.

Hi Erica,
Glad to hear you made it through with relatively minor problems in comparison to what the poor people in New Jersey and NYC are dealing with.
Good luck with your commute!

Thank you for your kind repsonse. It will take a while for everything to settle down around here. The biggest issue in Philadelphia is the flooding on non main roads and the trees falling in the streets and on people's homes and vehicles. Most people are getting their power back. It is really bad in the suburbs close to New Jersey. The beaches that people in this area venture to in the summer are destroyed. It will take New Jersey a while to renovate. The amusement rides are in the ocean from the bvoardwalk and some people have 4 feet of sand in their homes. I am grateful that I only have a little bit of a mess to clean up. Good luck to those people in NY and NJ as well as West Virginia that got the brunt of the damage.
