Glad I found this thread. I'm going in for a Nissen FP surgery on Holloween. I wasn't too apprehensive until I found this forum. My surgeon hasn't talked much about diet or pain at this point. Did all the recommended tests and am deemed a good candidate for the proceedure.He did say liquids for three days then small well chewed meals as tolerated would be the drill. Hopefully more info after surgery. Not looking forward to a lengthy recovery as I have been active gym,cycling etc. thanks for all your input. Hope I won't be sorry.

Hi Nopo,
Welcome to Healing Well!  We'll soon be welcoming you into the Wrapped Club...I'm also glad you've joined the forum.  I was lucky enough to find it shortly before my surgery, and it was a great help.
Here's my early recovery journal, in case you haven't come across it...hopefully it'll give you an idea of what you might expect post-surgery;

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow!
Happy Halloween!
Denise

Hi Nopo,

Hope all goes well for you. I too love to run and the gym. I am on week six of my recovery, I have yet to go to the gym or run. Although my recovery is going well, I don't want to push it. I used to run about 15 miles a week, I feel good enough that I think I'll go out this weekend and start with a 2 mile run. I'll let you know how it went.

Doctor says the surgery went well. I came home yesterday after 2 days in the hospital. Kept me another day as I had some minor cardiac issues. Seem to be doing OK don't need pain meds yet. Doctor said no restrictions on diet, just small frequent portions chewed well. I had mostly liquids and cream soup and jello at the hospital. First meal they brought was coffee, ice water with a straw jello and pudding! Yesterday for lunch before I complained they brought a cheese sandwich! At home I am sleeping on a recliner so far. Had some semi solids today ,poached egg, cream of wheat, pudding and some cottage cheese. It all went down ok. I still make some small burps when I eat and drink. Pain has been tolerable. I get pain at the front of my shoulders onto my upper chest but it is diminishing. Thanks again for the info. Saved me some problems at the hospital. Ps:off PPIs 3 days now no problems.No problems walking since the afternoon of the surgery. I get up every hour or so and do a lap around the house as it has been raining.

Nopo good for you. You sound you are going to be a fast healer. Everyday you will feel better. Don't be discourage if you do too much one day making you feel you have to back off the second day. I did not find this forum till 3 or 4 days after my surgery. I called my surgeons office asking them if belching and burping after I eat is normal the second day after I got home? If I had found this forum before hand like you, I would have not had to make that call. I am so greatful too for the folks on this forum who suffer GERDie problems who share their experiences to help us newbies going thur this for the first time. Best wishes for a fast recovery!!!
