This is only my second time visiting the site. I left a question a couple of weeks ago but just now have time to return...didn't see my post.

Anyway, Hello to everyone, fellow travelers on this journey with Gerd or post Gerd.

I am wondering if any of you are still experiencing any shoulder pain after the surgery. It is now two months post of for me and I still have the pain. It has abated but, it is there. Any suggestions?

Thankfully, my surgery was successful as far as I can tell. No heartburn at all now. Will have follow up swallowing test and UGI on Dec. 4th to see if I may still be manufacturing acid above the surgical site and have to resort to taking medicine once again. I surely hope this is not the case.

Thanks and good luck to everyone and God's blessings as well that you might be restored to optimum health.

Hi Rev. Maria,
The shoulder pain (which many of us find more painful than the actual surgery) can last a while and come and go.  I found that walking was the best way to keep it at bay.  It is an annoying pain, I know.
From what I've read it can be related to the gas pumped in for the surgery as well as irritation of the diaphram when the hernia was repaired.  It will go away eventually.  Try the walking and see if it helps!
Good luck!

Dear Denise
Thanks for your quick reply. Glad to know you are out there. And, you are soooooo right, the shoulder pain was greater than any incision pain I had. I am so happy to have the surgery over with now. Just had some hot and sour soup for lunch!

Take care and hope you are doing well. If I can ever be of help, don't hesitate to let me know.

With gratitude and blessings,
