Lansoprazole 30mg per morning seems to be helping. Also i am cutting fat to a minimum in my diet as i have been advised.Eat bland food but stem ginger is good and ginger tea .I do not drink coffee tea or alcohol anymore Its not worth it.Also no crisps or choclolate Oh dear!I hope this may be of some help to others I have also propped my bed up at the head end by 6 inches.Told to lose 11 pounds in weight which is going to be easy with cutting out goodies.

weight loss and gerd go hand in hand for many! I've dropped about 10 lbs....--I was already pretty thin, so my weight loss did not help my symptoms

Sorry to hear that belljar 1995- have you seen a specialist? I have to have an endoscope soon. Its confusing on the'net regards food we can and cannot eat - in my case (as i have no symptoms apart from feeling that i have lots of hair in my throat from the acid irritating the lining ) it is trial and error but i am cutting fat to a minimum.Good luck anyway and i hope you are soon well.

Acid is the enemy of these conditions. I take Somac twice per day which prevents the acid from forming, and do not eat acidic foods or spicy foods at all. My Barrett's Oesophagus (we spell it like this in Oz!) has been very stable now for years on this regime, so I wouldn't be using ginger!!!! Best of luck and get specialist advice.
