I've got back a very bad Lung Function test and I am really terrified.
Could some one help me with hope/experience or words of wisdom.

Inspiratory Capacity is just 70% and Total Lung capacity is 73%. I have trouble taking breath in.

FEV1 is 83%, FVC is 87% and PEF is 90%+

Is this indicative of fibrosis ? MY Doctor has ordered a CT scan.

My breathing issues started 5 years back along with reflux. Now, I need a deep breath every minute and don't seem to get enough air at all.

Any hope is all I am looking for at this point. I am trying to get the LINX done as soon as possible.

Thanks,
GH

Mine is 80% capacity.
They will probably put you on something to help you breath better like Advair or spriva. May have to do oxygen, depends on test results.

Hi Joy,

Do you know what it was when it was worst for you, say, prior to surgery? Can it ever get better ?
Did you get better after your Toupet ?

MY IC (inspirational capacity) is 70% and I guess that says you the whole story.

It is not even depressing anymore - I have given up and hoping that surgery can miraculously bring back some lung capacity.

....Feeling breathless at rest now....

I think it was worse for me before the surgery. I'm still on the strongest dose of Advair, but I don't feel as winded.

Hi couchtater,

Thanks again. Worse based on your perceived improvement post surgery ?

Right now, the inhaler (combivent) is certainly helping me. So, it might be a little better than a fibrosis. Lets see what the CT says.
