Hi to all the sufferers as well as healed here!!!!

Like many here I am quite desperate and want to ask for some advice or opinion....any feedback will be appreciated

2 Months ago I got these darned problems with swallowing...All the food gets stuck into my throat but not so deep ...And about 3 or even 4 months ago I occasionally was diagnosed with laryngitis during an ordinary check but it did me any troubles so I forgot about it ...and then in some time out of sudden I get this sh..t: I realize that all I eat stucks and I need to drink some glasses of water to make it get down. At the same time I started to feel the necessity of clearing my throat each time I drank some alcohol....
Since that I ve made my gastroscopy with absolutely NO abnormalities but continued problems...And I have also been to many ENTs and they all say I have laringitis and it comes from reflux decease...My GI which is claimed to be a good one said it might be possible but he doubts this strongly.
Now I am still suffering from all that cr-p trying to avoid acid things and taking medicines 2 a day (the 1st week)
My question is, IS IT really LPR or maybe I got allergic on smth? ( I can't bare strong smells like parfumes, shower gels, etc. I always need to clear my throat in such cases, sometimes I am out of breath but I thought It was my psycho cause I had it already and it calmed down after taking some trancs )
SO evrth is very complicated and I am like going bananas

Looking forward to ur feedbacks
Yana

Ask for an manometry test. It will test your muscle response in your esophagus. Also ask for a barium swallow. They can record how food goes down.

You are probably having acid bouncing back up messing with your windpipe too. That can damage the epiglottis letting food get into your lungs.

Reflux due to LPR often produces few symptoms in the esophagus. Most of the damage is in the throat, lungs/airway (exceptions always of course), this is one reason why few LPRs suffer from burning heartburn, but from the atypical symptoms of cough and difficulty swallowing.

Last year I suffered from severe throat swelling from LPR that limited by ability to eat for several weeks. PPI meds did help as well as lots of gaviscon. It took about 6 weeks for the mucus and swelling to go down fully--my throat is still a bit chronically irritated, but it is much better now.

Thank you for your replies !

Couchtater, I surely will insist on manometry test thnx for advice but u know the problem is, that gastroscopy showed that my muscle is tense an there was no open space between muscle and instrument....or do you mean some other muscle which can be weak too ?!
And what makes u think that the food gets stuck in the LUNGS ? I used to think once a small peace of food gets stuck in the lungs u r out of breath or even dead )
Belijar, thnx, I am glad to hear that u r improving. Are you still on some kind of diet or on medicines?

You might have nutcracker esophagus. It's a spasming of the esophagus.

It doesn't go down into the lungs it is just enough to drip into the voice box causing the choking problems. You cough it out when you cough.

The manometry test measures your muscle movements in your esophagus. You have two movements: Squeeze and relax. The movements cause the food to go down like squeezing a popsicle out of the package. If you don't squeeze right or relax right it can cause choking problems. Nutcracker esophagus is when the esophagus goes into squeeze mode but can't relax proper.

The sourness comes from the acid in your esophagus. PPIs just lower the acid levels it doesn't stop it from coming up. If it stopped acid you couldn't digest your food.

Definitely see an ENT and/or swallowing specialist. Oddly, none of my GI docs gave one hoot about my swallowing issues--they do look at the esophagus and stomach but often do not inspect the larynx--so you could have LPR swelling or other issues there. Often a swallowing workup includes a barium swallow, manometry and ph studies in the throat and esophagus as well as a few laryngoscopes which just look into the throat and at the voice box. Unfortunately, it seems that most swallowing issues take weeks to improve. Last year, I did yogurt, puddings and ensure for several weeks--I could not tolerate any solid foods. I also took 60 mg dexilant, 300 mg zantac, liquid Gaviscon and aleve 600 x 2 day (many doctors may not recommend this drug for GERD sufferers as it can increase bleeding in the GI tract so do not take it without doctor OK). I also used a nasal spray (flonase) that was a steroid to help with inflammation. My doc also gave me exercises to release the cricopharyngeal muscle as LPR often causes it to seize up and makes swallowing challenging. Slowly I was able to eat again and progress back to a normal diet but it took WEEKS. It is depression and it will drive you crazy --I cried daily and it was around the holidays--I was miserable.

Swallowing problems are a red flag--so do see an ENT or other doctor who specializes in swallowing. In some cases, it could just be an irritation issue that can be fixed with behavioral sessions.

And again thnx a lot for replies !!!!
yes I have laryngitis and it might be only this which cause my swallowing probs...I mean maybe no reflux....but evrth is quite weird...
I see my ENT doc regullary I have the next appointment on 14th of December but maybe I will try on Wednsday cause I want to do some allergy tests as well...It is strange because I actually had no cough till today....Since today I feel some need to cough or even some strange feeling in my throat or airways....
Actually the whole crap started in July as I used a very toxic shampoo and felt strange in my airways. It scared me to death i was out of breath, called a doc to come, he came and diagnosed me with allergy by looking into my throat....After that I was took to hospital and got a lot of infusions so the next day I had no allergic signs in my blood but laryngitis...At that time I even did not care about that I could eat normally and never had any troubles with my stomach (neither have them now).It took me a month to breath normally again and not like a fish on the shore surface. (The docs said I was absolutely healthy and that was just my psycho). Then I moved to Germany, got married, had stress with marriage etc. and then during my honeymoon my swallowing problem came up. Now I have the feeling of lump in throat, laringitis (since last summer) and of course depression. All the ENTs mean my laryngitis comes from reflux and my GI means my scopes are all ok (I did barrium swallowing in July evrth was perfect but I had no problems then). Sorry for a long story. Just posting it here, maybe somebody would have smth to say on the issue.
U know exactly how much support one needs when it goes like this and I do appretiate each feedback!!!
I will talk to the docs once again and will demand some prooves...evrth they done till now was just send me "from one to another doc". Belljar, this is a good example that u have got rid of it. Do u still have some problems and whether u are on diet now?
I bought me a book of Kaufman via amazon but actually I found out there are many things included in diet which are restricted in such cases in my country ( I originate from Ukraine) like f. e. mushrooms, beans, and evrth fried is actually NO WAY
Maybe smb will find it useful
