I saw a new GI today to talk about the chest pressure/gerd stuff. He said the chest pressure and gurgles (in the chest and throat) are likely air from esophageal spasms--but of course people don't spasm all day long, so he is not sure if the chest pressure is really related. He felt it could be anxiety from the GERD or hypersensitive esophagus or an ulcer.
So, he said absolutely must have endoscopy on monday. I hate these things--they scare me so much. I really do not like this at all. Then he said that endoscopy will not give him any info on motility issues, so a manometry should be done, but that depending on what he sees he might give me a anti spasm drug to try for a few weeks if I really feel upset about doing the manometry. He also said that there are stronger meds to try (anti reflux), but will discuss that after Monday. He also said he will take samples from the small intesting (yuck!!) to test for celiac since I have a family history--although he said the symptoms are not at all suggestive of that--"but why not while I'm there?" (!?!) I just don't like the thought of being asleep and having someone have free license over my internal organs ...hacking away, blowing things up.
I just feel like this is never ending and its really getting to me. I feel like I am not doing anything well...work isn't getting done...being a terrible mom...oy.
