I have bad sinus problems along with the GERD, and yes, I used to get them even when I was taking PPIs. I would break through at night, and this would get into my nasal passages and sinuses. However, it seems that my GERD is also worse when I am having problems with my sinuses. The doctor who did my Nissen Wrap years ago told me that there is a high white cell content to the nasal drainage, and this is very irritating to the stomach and esophagus. So, I think that the two problems feed into each other. The one thing that I have found helpful is to use nasal washes a couple of times a day when my sinuses are bothering me. This decreases the congestion, washes out any allergens, and keeps the area moistened.

You might want to check this thread, as I've wondered about this connection for sometime. Another member and I have been in a discussion for more than a week and we are discovering some interesting items with basic google searches.
