These days I seem to be coughing up a ball of mucous 2-4 times per day. I hate it. It is a symptom that I didn't used to have. But at the same time, I could imagine coughing up phlem each hour, so has that happened to anyone?

I don't know whether my 2-4 times per day is something that I should be happy about since it might be a minimal amount, or if it is on the worse end of coughing frequency for GERD suffers.

I have asthma and allergies, and I have coughed up phlem my entire life.  During allergy season it's pretty constant.  Prior ot my surgery I would lay over a bed or ottoman, and cough my guts out, going through a half a box of tissues.  Believe me...I've experienced it.
LPR and asthma/allergies are so similar that my asthma doc is always suspicious (as am I) regarding whether my problems are allergy or reflux induced.  While I'm always on the lookout for symtoms that seem related to reflux (it's still possible after a Nissen, or your wrap would be so tight that you wouldn't be able to swallow), I'm confident, that it's gets much, much worse during allergy season.  Still, those of us with LPR symptoms can never be absolutely sure.
In fact, this works the other way, too.  The heat has gone on, and often people with indoor allergies begin to have problems.  Might you be having some sinus issues due to this?  It's certainly possible. Just a thought...
Take care,
