I've had gerd for 10 years. It used to be just painful and annoying...basically I could keep it at bay with a proper diet. In the past month, it's gotten worse and it's causing anxiety. There is constantly acid in the back of my throat. It's so gross and nauseating. I've been on 40mg of nexium once a day for a week now. No change. I can't eat anything, though I still have an appetite (usually). It's very anxiety arousing. I hate leaving the house for fear of getting sick. I am also afraid I am dying because I can't eat much. I can't eat, breathe, or sleep. I am always panicking. This is depressing and I'm sure I sound crazy. What can I do about the acid and nausea? Gingerale does nothing, nor does maalox, pepcid, pepto bismol, zantac, and tums do nothing. It's not h. Pylori. Help:(.

You sound like me. What helps me occasionally (it's better than the other stuff) is Gaviscon. Also, I often find chewing gum after eating to be helpful. It keeps me swallowing and seems to help keep stuff down, at least somewhat. If I feel anxious due to the sudden nausea/gagginess the reflux can cause, I just try to take a couple of deep breaths and try to think of anything else. This works sometimes, but I know it's difficult to deal with stuff coming up into your throat. It happens to me every day. I also usually cannot eat enough, and I'm too skinny. :(

Hi there, u sound just like me. I now take 4o mg of Prilosec in the morning and Zantac 150 mg at night. I find that my gerd and gastritis gets worse right before my period to the point to panic attacks burning stomach and feeling horrible. I just got my period today and feel so much better. I am convinced hat hormones play a Huge role in acid reflux and gastritis because mine came out of nowhere about two years ago. I am also seeing an acupuncturist which helps with the terrible nausea. I drink Chinese ginger honey tea twice a day and find that when take ginger capsules the nausea subsides for a couple of hours. I wish that someone would conduct a study on hormones and gerd because when I mention my symptoms to my gastro dr he doesn't agree with me. I do know that I am estrogen dominant because I had DCIS breast cancer 11 years ago. I am 52 years old and still get my periods which makes me now in perimenapause.. I chew gum after every meal which helps with the nausea. I hope this helps...
