if I'm still coughing up mucous and liquid after i eat and still have lump in my throat does that mean the ppis arent working??? or is it just the inflammation in my throat causing excess mucous. I need to know because if im having breakthrough acid then im not in the healing process yet and my throat is still being damaged. Ugh im so depressed. Sorry for all the questions guys. its just been a hard four months.

Hi Stacey,
First, you don't have to start a new thread with every question.  When you write a question on your thread it pops it up to the top of the list, so everyone will know that you've added something.  Also, people who are responding to you often request email alerts that someone has added to the post.  Just an FYI...
Are you taking your PPI dose just once a day?  What time of day, and how are you taking it in relation to food you're eating?  Here's a great resource that explains how to best take PPIs to ensure it works to its full potential:
Also, I've read that people with LPR require two doses of PPI a day to ensure 24 hour coverage.
Also, keep in mind that if you're just starting PPIs it will take quite a while to get the full effects and improvements.  The acid has been irritating very delicate tissue in your throat, and it will take time for it to heal.
Hang in there!

Stacey. Please google "water brash". This might help explain. Some docs are not familiar with it. We had mouth full of foam and was told never heard of it. So we took pictures of it to show the doctors. One doc said the foam was produced to neutralize the acid that was refluxing up the esophagus. (don't know if that means ppi are working or not--sorry). Maybe some other members have some help.
