I had a barium swallow test done and everything came back 100% normal.....could this mean I don't need to be on the PPI drugs.  Docs throw those at you so quickly.  I assume the test would rule out gerd if it came back normal?  Any thoughts would be SO appreciated.

Never in thr past, baium meal or endoscopy has shown any errosions in my ephagus. Docs go for endoscopy every 6 months to detrmine the state of my ephagus. Probably this is due to the fact that I am taking all my medicines religiously. So what I can suggest out of my experience is that to avoid any complication we must controle acidity / gerd and continue our tretment. This test can only show if there are any damages/errosions on the inner wall of ephagous/stomach. But it can not rule out gerd. GERD is dignosed mostly by symptoms.

Well it's wishful thinking, but unfortunately welcome to the world of GERD. The lead milkshake is simply so they can take pictures of your stomach, and ephagous to see if you have any ulcers, or errosion of the area.

Wait till they want to shove the booster cable down your throat, so they can take little pictures. I believe the proper term is endoscopy..

Good luck, but a different diet, and possibly a naturalist may be able to help yet.. Other than that, your a lifer..
