Hi all, just wanted to see if any of you guys can give me some advise on how to try and start getting my life back on track! I am currently suffering what I believe to be gerd. I recently had an endoscope which came back with normal results but am suffering all the symptoms of gerd/lpr but the problem being is that I am still worried that it could be a cardio issue also.
I had an attack in early December which after careful eating and acupuncture I started to feel like a normal person again, but Christmas has really knocked me and after just having a very small amount of alcohol and chocolate over Xmas I had another attack on boxing day night.
This attack really has hit me for six with bad chest and arm pain and last night terrible back pain in between my shoulder blades, all of this along with lots of gas and belching, It got so bad last night that I had to go to ER for reassurance that it was not cardiac related.
Another normal ECG and the normal drivel from the doctor I managed to get off to sleep at 5am!.
I guess what I'm looking for is somebody who has experienced the pain that I am feeling, chest arm and back and fatigue, I can't lye on my left side as its so uncomfortable, I'm going mad here as no doctor can tell me whats wrong but all I know is that since April my life has completley changed and I just want my old life back. :(

First, get on the Gerd Diet. You can find it by web searching.
Next, ask your doctor for some medication to calm it.
Then, if you follow the diet and do the medications and still suffer talk to your doctor about the surgery (Nissen Fundoplication).

Last, Stick around here for tips and questions.
Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Glaucoma, Asthma, Hypothyriodism, Sleep Apnea, Degenerative Disk and Facet Disease, and Allergies

When life throws you lemons....
Pick them up and throw them right back at them! :))

I am right there with you. I have had the same symtoms for the last few days. I have thought about going to the ER for reassurance, but I now it is the same thing I have gone through many times in the past. I kn0w the holiday food and drink have my acid reflux flaring up. I wish I had some quick solutions for you you, but I have been looking for them myself. I recently tried changing to another PPI and I believe it has added to my pain. My doctor thought I should try another one to see if it helped. I have been on PPI's for about 30 years. The meds and diet seem to keep it under control most of the time, but it seems every year or two I go though a spell where it gets really bad. I always have some type of mild chest pain from the acid reflux. When it gets out of control the chest pain really get bad, then I get worried and that makes it worse. Then the stress comes and it is all down hill from there.
My solution for now is to go back to my old PPI, use some antacids after meals, try to relax a bit and(now that the holiday are over) get back to a better diet. Knowing myself, if I do not get some inprovement, I will be in the doctors office for an EKG to make me feel better.

sorry you aren't feeling well. This year, I have lots of chest pain and pressure with my GERD. I too needed to rule out cardiac issues--so definitely you are doing the right thing. The heart is dynamic, and no single ekg (or even a few ekgs) can rule this out--so often it requires a consult with a cardiologist . At the same time, you can try a strict GERD diet, sleeping more upright (elevating head of bed), wearing loose clothes around you stomach and not eating late.

You need to make an appt with your primary care physician sor a good physical. One set of ekg's in the emergency room does not rule out cardiac disease. A you need to have a stress test to make sure your symptoms are indeed not from your heart. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the reply guys, since i posted my symptoms have not got any better, if fact my back pain seems to have come back and got worse, although all of the arm pain i was experiencing before Christmas seems to have died down, the pain seems to be travelling around!.
I have my stress echo test booked so that i hopefully once and for all rule out any cardio problems adn also booked is a 24hr ph monitor, even though my endoscope was clear i am 100% certain that all of this pain i am suffering is Gerd/LPR, just need something to show up so the docs cant keep telling me that there is nothing wrong with me!.
I am following the GERD diet which is hard but hopefully it will do the trick, I do have hope though, as i was feeling 100% better before my last attack, once i get my results i will let you know!.
Thanks again for the replys. :-)
