Thanks for your reply. So PPIs stopped working for you too? Did you try them all also? I've read quite a bit about the different surgeries available and I'll have to admit that I'm quite scared about the Nissen :( I'm afraid it won't work or I'll get complications. Also, did you find out why the PPIs quit helping you? I'm at a loss! This chronic burning is driving me insane.
I noticed that you have fibromyalgia, I do as well. I also have other "hypersensitive" issues too (IBS, vulvodynia, anxiety) which makes me wonder if I have a hypersensitive esophagus. I guess I'll find out more when I get all the tests done.
My doctor stuck with Nexium and Zantec. He told me it was the strongest he could recommend at the time. Dexilent was just coming out and hadn't be proved successful yet.
I was scared of the surgery too. I had heard horrible stories from others and then I found this group. I decided to go forward with the surgery and am very glad I did. Recovery wasn't too bad for me. I was on pain killers for 4 days. Liquids for 2 weeks, soft foods for 2 weeks, then slowly added harder foods over the next 4 weeks. I was on lifting restriction nothing over 5 lbs for 6 weeks then gradually added more as time when on. You have to give in to the recovery and don't rush it.
I didn't develop fibro until two years after the surgery. So I don't know about you.
