Hello all, glad to have this forum online. Its been a godsend these last few months. It all started back in November when I started having heart palpitations, sinus pressure, high blood pressure and dizziness. At the time I was eating real bad, drinking alot and smoking (not cigarettes). I ended up in the ER three times with dizziness. They did all the tests on my heart, gave me glycerine and sent me home each time. I gave smoking and drinking a break for a few weeks and took my blood pressure meds. Started to feel better except after I smoked or drank. At the end of November I had my last good meal. Pizza, beer and smoking. The next day my esophagus was on fire. My stomach was swelled up and painful. I couldn't eat, barely drank water. Laid up in bed for a few days, ended up at dr. They prescribed me protonix 40 mg twice daily. That helped for a few days, then the extreme dizziness, anxiety kicked in. I thought I was going to die. I stopped taking them, and it went away. But back came my esophogus pain and bloating. My chest was on fire, ate couch drops all day. I finally went back to dr and they put me on prilosec, 20mg and zantec, 150 mg. That seems to be slowly making things better. Its been almost two month and I am still barely eating solid foods. I get nausea sometimes in the mornings and if I eat something bad. After 4 weeks on the new meds I am requesting a Endoscope. I go in next Thursday. I hope and pray it is minor inflammation but who knows. I will be thinking about it all week.

Thank you all for your postings, I think I have read almost all of them back two years. Great information!!!

Followup on my post. Had my endoscopy done yesterday. I was really suprised how easy it was in my case. I think having no tonsils might have helped, but it seems pretty quick in and out. I did have the numbing spray and awake sedation. The results were good, no problems in stomach or anywere else except a few white bumps on the esophagus. They will be doing a biopsy on that to check for allergys. I am glad it over with. Not much soreness or bloating.

As far as my gerd, the syptoms have seemed to decrease a lot. The pain in my chest has finally disappeared. Staying on the low acid diet, taking fiber pills and probiotics, and the daily prilosec seems to have done the trick. Now I have to figure out how to wean myself off the ppi's and keep on the diet. :-)
