Just wanted to update you all -

I'm doing a lot better with eating different kinds of food. I've been trying different presliced meats like ham and turkey, and those go down ok. Got some creamed corn and regular canned corn and canned sliced carrots at the store, going to try them tomorrow. I've also been eating bananas, cottage cheese, and mashed potatoes. I am really glad this forum exists, I learn a lot from it.

I'm glad to hear that you are doing better. I remember very well the months when I was afraid to eat.

Hi x,
That's great to hear!  I sounds as if you're over the "hump" and are on the road to recovery!  I agree...this forum is a great place!
Happy eating!

I wish I was over the "hump". I feel confident as long as I've been eating stuff that I've had for awhile. But I keep putting off trying "new" stuff. I guess there is always tomorrow. Logically I know I will be able to eat new stuff, but it's like I've just gotten in the habit of eating the same things.

I'm glad too. Hoping to try some more foods tomorrow. I wish I knew which foods were ok and which weren't for acid reflux - I have seen lists online like this:

Foods to avoid: http://heartburn.about.com/cs/dietfood/a/heartburnfoods3.htm
and foods that are ok: http://heartburn.about.com/cs/dietfood/a/heartburnfoods1.htm

and cottage cheese is on the food to avoid list, even though I've been eating it for a few months and haven't had any problems. So I don't know what to think.

I am not exactly like most patients but I do not trace my reflux to certain foods. I avoid milk and soy because I'm allergic to those. I avoid all caffeine and soda because theres multiple reasons to avoid those. I avoid oranges and apples, although that's more of a personal trigger. Other than that I don't trace any remaining foods to reflux, not even spicy or hot foods.

My reflux used to be very bad due to the chocolate and pop I was drinking, and pizza. I also found out it was caused when I would drink the tap water around here, so now I just drink bottled.
