Okay...I have some information, but don't know if it's helpful. I can't vouch for it, except that I do think highly of the young doc who gave the recommendation.
I was thinking about you, and thought about the fact that my son's friend is a doctor in NYC. I contacted him via Facebook, and received this response:
As for a surgeon, a nissen is a common procedure so most surgeons are skilled at it. The semi-younger ones maybe a little more skilled laparoscopically because we trained that way.
I work with Dr.Vemulapalli. She is a very skilled MIS surgeon and has good results. I would send my parents to her. Let me know if he/she needs help getting an appoint with her etc.
Since I don't agree with his premise that "most surgeons are skilled at it", it makes the rest of his recommendation suspect. Still, I figured I'd share what he said with you. Still, she specialized is bariatric surgery and is a minimally invasive sugery specialist. I could also add that anyone who practices in NYC sees and does more of everything simply due to the size of the population. He does highly recommend her as he said he'd "send his parents to her", which is high praise.
Here's the link with her information:
Take it for what it's worth...I tried!
Good luck in your search!
