Hello,
First, I take .25 mg of klonopin as needed (i take it twice a day though), 75 mg of nortriptyline (pamelor) every night. well, last night i just increased from 50 mg to 75 mg. i am also taking 40 mg of nexium every morning. between the hours of 10-11pm and 3-4pm i feel pretty fine. i can eat whatever i want without GERD trouble, though i try to stick to foods that won't irritate the situation. i have one cup of coffee WITH breakfast. by the time the evening rolls around i become overwhelmed with anxiety and either heartburn, nausea, or both. i have no idea why. i am not afraid of the dark. i work both day shifts and night shifts. i have both day and night classes. my daily schedule is not consistent. today at 3:50 i got in the car to drive 20 minutes to meet a friend for coffee (i was going to have tea). about 5 minutes into the ride i felt a wave of anxiety and i began to taste acid in the back of my throat. i started losing feeling in my hands. i knew i had to turn around. by the time i got home i was sure i was going to throw up. i was pacing for 2.5 hours. my temperature is 99. i am absolutely terrified of vomiting. the nausea is gone for the most part but the heartburn is still awful. do i just have the stomach flu? i looked up the symptoms and i don't really have them other than an elevated temperature and bad nausea for about an hour. i do know that anxiety can cause an elevated temperature, especially because i paced around my apartment for 2.5 hours. i was beginning to feel better until my friend asked me what was wrong. i really don't know. i'm never crazy about having to sit in rush hour traffic but my ipod usually helps with that. last night at work i thought i was going to jump out of my skin. i'm a server and i began work at 4:30. that feeling of slight nausea and jumping out of my skin lasted until about 9...when i was almost done with my sidework. what is wrong with me? i am skipping school tomorrow to the doctor. can anyone give me advice or insight into what could be going on? could it be the stomach flu? please help me. i want to try to eat a piece of bread but the fear of vomiting is too strong. i cancelled my coffee date with my friend A and cancelled a study session with my friend C. i don't have to leave the house until 11 when i pick up my boyfriend from work. help me.

Oh Flowerlane, you sound like me in a way :( Do you get the heartburn often? I've had it uncontrolled for years now even while taking a PPI. Well I'm a very anxious person and suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. Usually I control it with an antidepressant, but about 2 months ago I was off of the antidepressant and I had a bout of gastritis and it hurt so bad so I started worrying about it and it made me nauseous. I have a true phobia of vomiting!! I am so afraid of it, since I was like 7 years old. I would walk around saying "don't say the 'F' word" and I meant stomach flu LOL. But, what you're feeling could be symptoms of anxiety. It's an evil cycle...you're scared of being sick, so you worry and therefore make yourself feel sick. It sucks! I'm back on an antidepressant now and even though I feel better, I'm still having bits of anxiety. A lot of it has to do with my gerd. It feels awful! I take elavil at night and also take xanax as needed, so I know what you mean:( Hang it there, it will pass. Just try to relax. I'm still trying, it's hard to when you don't feel good and have a phobia.

I know that most of my anxiety is related to the GERD. I'm a waitress and I always request to have a section close to the bathroom. It is ridiculous. Nexium worked for me when I took it in high school, so I'm not sure why it's not working now. Maybe I need to be on a different anxiety medicine. I'm sorry you're suffering from this as well. I went from age 5 to age 21 without vomiting. Unfortunately, when I was 21 I caught a stomach virus, I only threw up once but it was terrifying. Hang in there too. Hopefully we both find ways to feel better/deal soon!

Oh wow, that is an extremely long time! I remember I used to count the years in between episodes, usually 4 years or so. Well it's been about 7 years now...so i'm a bit scared. I'm getting nauseous right now thinking about it. It's amazing what our minds can do! I'm always afraid of catching it too! I actually think there are a lot of people out there who have the same phobia, it's pretty common. But yea, I've suffered from Gerd since I was 16 (I'm 31 now) and it was always controlled on Prilosec and Nexium until about 5 years ago. Then no PPI was working except for Prevacid, which worked better than the others, but I would still have burning. So then I just decided to live with it and try to ignore it until a couple months ago when my gastritis started acting up. Then I started switching PPIs and then now I have constant burning no matter what I take. I'm at a loss. Hopefully we will get relief soon! I'm glad to hear of someone who is going through similar things as me and can relate:)
