So I had my fundoplication on Tuesday it's now friday and I haven't opened my bowels as of yet only been having liquid diet soups s
Smoothies cups of juice tea and water

So how long does it take before people usually go do people suffer with constipation after this op I've been prescribes some codeine but holding off taking it as it has given me constipation in the past although I have a prescription laxative to combat this

Also last night after lying down I got up to go for a pee and felt
The most intense pain in my lower bowels as if something was bubbling and burning in there as soon as I lay back down it subsided any ideas on this

I also still have some shoulder pain especially when I burp I feel this shoulder pain it's similar to the pain from gas is this normal it's been 3 days should that gas not of subsided the docs told me it should go within 24 hours

Hi Sammy,
Unfortunately, that shoulder pain can last a long time.  For most people it's the most painful part of the recovey.  Walk, walk, walk.  Walking was what worked best, and I think others have discovered that to be helpful as well.

Call your doctor's office and get their advice regarding getting your bowels moving.  Joy (couchtater) said her doctor recommended mineral oil and says it was gentle and effective.

Unfortunately at this point in your recovery pain is to be expected.  Be sure to call your doctor about the bowel issue.  You are right about the codene.
Hang in there!

Sammy,
Whenever you get up for ANYTHING do some walking.  Any walking is better than none.
Walk, walk, walk!
