I am new here and just wanted to see if anyone started with their main issue being nausea.  I have a scope scheduled for end of Feb.  I know it will reveal a lot of info.  However in the meantime I am so nervous.  I get nausea very regularly.  More often at night after eating.  If I eat late it is worse too.   Tonight it started not long after dinner though after being fine all day.  I am so worried about what they will find and I just wanted to see if this could still be reflux.  I don't have heartfurn or anything just nausea.

Started w/terrible cough & then constant nausea. My GI specialists said nausea is a classic symptom of GERD. Good luck!

Thanks Life is Good to me. I just need to hear that so I can stop being so anxious about this scope. I have myself all worked up into thinking it's something terrible. Did you have a scope? What did they see?

Anyone else with nausea stories especially those who have had a scope. I'm so curious as to what they found. Thanks!

Hi there

Nausea and pain were always my top 2 symptoms. My first scope showed nothing at all. The second showed mild gastritis and mild oesophagitis and a small hernia, not worthy of surgery. My symptoms at the time of both scopes were identical!

Morning nausea was always my main issue and this is still what I get if I have a relapse. I found taking my PPI mid evening helped a lot. Chewing DGL on waking helped a bit too. More recently I've found the herb milk thistle and acupuncture to be beneficial - it took over 2 years of trying different natural remedies to reach the point where I didn't have daily nausea.

I wouldn't get too worried about the scope, or too excited about what it might diagnose. Despite the severity of my symptoms, my first scope showed absolutely nothing and I was very disappointed!!

My first scope showed hiatel (sp) hernia, esophagitis, & Barretts. My 2nd & 3rd scope showed the hernia & esophagitis as well as a very lax LES (lower esophageal sphincter) and fortunately no Barretts. I think the first doctor didn't have someone who could read the labs well.

Welcome to Healing Well.

I see you have met a couple of out great members here already.

I didn't have nausea with my GERD, guess I am a lucky one. I do know it is a very common complaint with GERD though. I have heard chewing gum after a meal helps things move a long a bit, but have no data to back it up.
Now I do know a way to stop it if you don't have anti nausea meds. Put some rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and put it under your nose. Usually only take a few seconds to make it go away.

Take care,
Bill
