Hi

I was wondering if anyone has heard of this, as i have just read about it after feeling very unwell today. Apparently one of the most common symptoms is gerd and its common for normal terd treatment to be less effective.

I read some of te other symptoms, like frequent bowel movenments, feeling tired a lot and itching. I have tis thing were my legs itch like crazy after a shower for no apparent reason.

Apparently around 5% of people have it so its very common but a lot of te time is asymptomatic.

I also have a terrible memory and frquently go into an anti social mood where i dont want to talk to people which are other symptoms.

Im thinking of asking my GE about it next time i see him, has anyone been diagnosed with it?

Same...never knew I had it until I fasted once and got jaundice. Apparently it is a benign condition.

I'd never heard it is related to GERD, so please inform me if you have found info on this.

I researched it once and found that people linked a plethora of symptoms to it, although Dr's will tell you that it has no symptoms except jaundice. One symptom some people get is apparently RUQ pain as well, although, again, to my knowledge no GI would agree with that. But a page out there dedicated to people with Gilberts that I found when I researched it a few years ago had people compiling symptoms that they felt were related to it, including some of the things you are mentioning.

Tell me more about the link to GERD though...I've never heard that before.

This is the website i found on it http://www.gilbertssyndrome.com/symptoms.php. Not much about treatment though beyond the typical gerd treatments.

Today i just suddenly feel like my wholebody is exhausted and its come and go a few times over the last few months. My intestines are painful and lots of gas and going to the toilet but nothing really there. All my skin is hyper sensitive as well and is tingling. Luckily the gerds still under control though!

Cool, that is the same website I used before.

Its good to know, especially since people with it seem to get symptoms that maybe aren't publicized, but which patients report (in this case, to each other?).

But I'd be cautious to jump to conclusions that GERD is more pervalent among those with Gilberts, and also harder to treat for that population. I may be wrong...but from what I read there it just seems to be sufferers randomly describing their symptoms (?).

Thanks for bringing up this issue though, it has gotten me to do some more research.
