Hi everyone,
I gave myself GERD last year using a painkiller. My symptoms were just a little burning, did an endoscopy and got diagnosed with gerd. Got an omeprazole treatment and after finishing it the real circus started...24/7 lump in the throat feeling. Tried all antiacids and none of it worked. Went on an anticandida diet for a year and it did not work. Tried hcl, enzymes, dgl, marshmallow root, manuka honey, aloe vera, slippery elm, d limonene, low carb diet...well nothing worked.
Been like this for a year and nothing worked!! I was about to loose it when my ND told me to go on an alkaline diet, take magnesium with breakfast an dinner and tri salts before bed.
Well i figured did not have anything to loose. Ive been doing this for a week and nothing of añl the things i did before make me feel a progress....this does.
The diet is not easy and i saw some posts from someone named DANIE here about getting cured (this was a year ago) well, i wished i listened to her back then.
Ill keep posting about my progress but it makes perfect sense to me. My body is acidic and once i return it to a more alkaline state i will feel better. All diseases come from an acidic state.
Read the book the miracle detox...i consider this an extreme approach but makes sense. I wouldnt eat 100% raw but i started incorporating a lot of veggies in my diet. Not eating animal protein for now.
Go to energuiseforlife and download the alkaline/acid foodlist. This is the one i use.
Also im practicing food combining and i bought the grat taste no pain book. (no one gave me money just mentioning the ones i found usefull)

What i eat: watermelon tons!!!, cantaloupe, sunflowerseeds and almonds for snacks, sweetpotato, vegetable pear, beets, carrots, jicamas, cucomber, avocados, green beans, eggplant, all lightly steamed except cucomber and jicamas. I try not to eat raw vegetables lime in a salad for now just to facilitate digestion.
For protein quinoa and buckweat as well as lentil sprouts.
I make some muffins with lentil sprouts which are great and take away my sweetness cravings. I use coconut amminos for my veggies...taste great. Stevia as a sweetner.
I eat everything organic.
I dont eat tomatos or acidic fuits...even though some of them are alkaline my stomach does not handle them.
Danie was right i guess but it takes sacrifice and discipline. Think it is not forever...just until you readjust your body and then you will be able to tyr everything in moderation.
Half teaspoon of tri salts 30 mins before bed..i sleep much better now. I intend to try tri salts in the mid morning too but havent done it yet.
I will post again as i make more progress.
Blessings, ale from México

Those who promote what they are calling an alkaline diet have a different definition of pH, it is not the lack of acidity of the foods eaten. Rather, they measure the lack of acidity in the sweat or urine of a person after eating these foods. I am very glad this diet helped you, but it makes no sense to me. I am now off meds except for a couple of TUMS per day thanks to the Fast Tract diet for Heartburn. Fast Tract is based on current digestive science.

One problem - for those who have had a Nissan high fiber is just BRUTAL, even using Beano and Gas-X. And for those who have had a gall bladder out many things that are raw are not digested well at all, and cause further issues :(

My Nissen is scheduled for Marh 11, and my surgeon said raw fruits and veges were fine as long as they were pulverized into a drinkable form (bought a Nutribullet).
What about Benefiber like products?
Is it the gas that's a problem? I know the pain meds could cause constipation so how do we battle that?
