Just wondering if any of you that suffer from gastritis have lost a lot of weight?  I've had gastritis for about 3 months now and I've lost 22 pounds!  I've been wanitng to lose weight for some time now, but not like this.  Weight loss was due to not having an appetite and stomach feeling full really fast, even after eating a small meal.  Also, I think cutting back on alot of junk food, sodas, juices, etc. have contributed to the weight loss.  I used to eat chocolate, cakes, sweets, everyday before gastritis.  I imagine that I've only been consuming about 500-800 calories per day since all this started because I just don't have a big appetite and my stomach hurts when it's too full.  During bad flare ups, I sometimes only have 1 meal for the whole day. I get really depressed when I don't have an appetite. Sometimes even the thought of food makes me naseous.   I'm actually at an ideal weight and would not like to lose any more weight.  How can I do that if I don't have a big appetite.  Also can you share some of your weight loss stories and how did you gain some of your weight back.

The weight loss, as in my case, relates to malabsorption occuring in the small intestine. You might want to check with your GI. I have lost quite a bit, so have your primary care check your B vitamin levels to ensure you are properly digesting and absorbing your food. In my case, I do not secret enough HCL and my food is not digested, sits in the gut. First you get the digestion right, then the proper bacterial ecology in your intestines needs to be reestablished.
