Well I posted a few weeks ago about doing the alkaline diet for helping my LPR sy,ptoms. Basically all i feel is the need to swallow and the lump in my throat. This has been going on for a year and i have tried everything.
In november 2011 went to the GI because my stomach burned a little and sometimes. He did an endoscopy and found my les was partially cloaing and some gastritis, nothing major. Gave me a course of Omeprazole and the fun started!!! I started having the same symptoms i have now but worse, changed GI about three times and tried nexium, lamzoprazole, gaviscon...nothing worked.
Did a whole year on an anti candida diet plus supplements and no luck. Metal chelation and no luck. Tried HCL, enzymes and all kind of supplements with mo luck
My ND suggested the alkaline diet about three weeks ago and that along with hot water first thing in the am and before meals has been the only real help ive got.
Anyway...my GI send me the motility test, 24 hour test and endoscopy again since im planning TTC next month.
Today i had the motility test and it was awful!!! Dr called me and said it looks like my middle esophagus is not moving right, he said a 15 number out of 30. Ill have the ph test wednesday and im scared because its 24 hours having a thing in my throat!! I could not wait for this morning test to be over!! It hurt!
Im worried about the future since i have a very well controlled cervical dystonia and i cant take things like Reglan because it causes movement disorders and i already have one which by the way has taken me a lot of hard work to overcome so i dont know what other options i would have if my ph test comes out fine. I live in mexico and we have domperidone which i know has less side effects but im still scared to take it. I know im getting ahead but i have been readingthis forum and i know theres a lot of experienced people here that are better than drs!!!
I just wish there was something natural to take!! And i wish i never took antiacids!
Thanks a lot for your help an encouragement!! turn

The PH wire is much smaller than the manometry tube. It is annoying at times, like when you eat it can pull on your nostril.

Take care,
Bill

Hi,the ph test isnt too bad, as Bill says youll feel a bit of tugging as you swallow, the hardest part of it is being off the ppis, thats what bothered me anyway.Just look at it as you need to have this done to get a diagnosis and get better. I take domperidone myself for nausea and i find it ok with no side effects that ive noticed, three times a day with meals and it definitely helps.PPis drugs will cause side effects and noone wants to take them but i feel they are a necessary evil. Good Luck with your Ph Study! You,ll be OK! Barry

I must be the only one that found the ph to be far worse than the manometry. But my tube was almost the same size for both. I swear i got landed with a tube from 20 years ago or something. My ph test wire was about 5mm thick.

The worst part for me was that it made me constantly wretch, but after a few hours my gag reflux seemed to give up and just accept it.

My advice is plan out a number of things to do in the day that u can enjoy, and treat yourself. Also the first few hours are the worst, but it does get better although the day feels very long. If i could get through it though, you can.
