I will be having the Nissen Fundoplication in a few weeks and had a question regarding taking pain medicine and my regular medication in a pill form after the surgery.  Do they give pain medication in a liquid form and will I be able to take my normal medication in a pill form or should I ask my doctor if there is a liquid equivalent?  Did anyone have trouble taking pills and should I be worried about this?  My worse fear is getting home and being in pain and not being able to swallow a pill to feel better.

I was able to take pills after my nissens without any trouble. Everyone is different though. Some people do have issues with pills right after surgery and have liquid meds. It's best to talk with your surgeon about this.

Take care,
