omg! picked up a violent stomach bug 12 days ago. up until now i have not had the urge to vomit and wondered what would happen. it hit me suddenly and hard. i wretched so forcefully that i pulled my neck and shoulder out. nothing came up. i can't vomit. reglan was no help. after an hour of this i called my daughter and she brought me some phenegren sups. 12.5 mg and 25 mg. the 12.5 did nothing. the 25's at least stopped the heaves but i remained very ill for the next 5 days and was confined to bed. no, not relaxing, watching tv kind of bed. i mean i was SICK! no tv, no noise, thrashing. miserable. today it has been 12 days and i still can't tolerate solid food. the best i can do is a protien shake a couple of times a day. tried to drive to town yesterday and turned around. i just don't feel good. i the past months i have gotten a little woosey riding in the car and this stayed with me for 2 or 3 days. i am not sure if this bug we had was just a nasty one or if this is what happens after an illness. do any of you out there have some experience here? right now i'm thinking i need to have my dr. call in a bunch of 25mg supps to have in the fridge. this thing kicked my butt. i have lost 15 lbs just in the last week. not a fun way to loose weight. what do you all do when you are ill? this is all new to me.

If I was you, I would see my Surgeon ASAP. The stomach Flu should not last that long. It just does not sound right.

If you are still so ill, call your doctor. If you can't get hold of him, I'd go to the ER.

I had a bad flu bug - one of the ones not covered by the vaccine. I was so dehydrated I had to get an IV.

Consider asking the doc for ondansetron or even better, paregoric which is supposed to be available again. Paregoric works as fast as it hits the stomach. Just don't drive on it. The best thing is it keeps for about 10 years.
