I just need to know what can I expect from my 2 month old daughter's inguinal surgery this Thursday and my 4 year olds parasophageal surgery next Tuesday? Please add my family to your prayer list. I need all the help I can get. My baby girl will have surgery this Thursday. My lil guy will be in surgery next Tuesday. They both have Hernias. As a mom I want to avoid all pain both my babies will be in. I just don't know how can this be happening. My mind is heavy with worries. I just want them both to be healthy & happy. The doctor told me her surgery will be a one day surgery. His will be major surgery remaining 5 days in the hospital and discharged with a tube out of his tummy. I just need advice and encouragement.

Welcome to HealingWell  and  our GERD - Heartburn peer support discussion forum.

I am sorry to hear of your babies need for surgical intervention and I can identify 100% with how you are feeling.

It is OK to feel anxious as this is a very big deal for a Mom even if a surgery is minor.  We do not want our children in pain.

I would like to suggest that your write down all your questions for you Dr. including how they are going to tell when your little ones are in pain and how they will medicated them.

I know thinking of your little one having major surgery is scary - set up your support team now as you will be with your children and won't have time to do much else for awhile. Let others do for you and add your children to the prayer list at your church if you choose too.

I suspect you will be at the hospital as much as you can but remember to take care of yourself.  Go out for a walk.  Nap when the little one is sleeping.

Try not to overthink anything as that will throw you into the "what if?" mode.  Just remember to breathe to help you with any high anxiety.

I will keep all of you in my prayers.

Kindly, Kitt

So sorry to hear about your children. I will be praying for them and will put them on my Church's prayer list. We are fortunate that technology has advanced so far that conditions such as your children's can be dianpgnosed and treated. There is a link at the top of the HealingWell page called Resources. If you go there, select GERD and you will find a section just for infant related digestive problems and lots of support info.

So sorry to hear about your babies. It is such a worrying time for you. I found when my daughter was In Hospital for a long time and for all her surgeries that taking it one day at a time, don't look forward and don't look back. Live in the here and now helped me get through it and gave the strength to be there for her. My thoughts and prayers with you.

So how did Stephies surgery go? I posted my e-mail address on my profile because I would like to have your last name for my church prayer list. I will erase your E-address afterward.

Glad to hear that Stephie did well and is not in too much pain. Children are tough and bounce back quickly.
Sorry Jacob's got so much to deal with but he'll do fine.
Be sure to rest when you can.
I'll be thinking of you and your babies.

I too am very happy to hear Stephie is doing well. I am sure Jacob will do the same. As Joy said, children are very tough and bounce back quickly.

Take care,
Bill

Jacob and Stephies mom,

It breaks my heart to think of all the stuff you and your sweet angels had to go through.  I am glad to hear that Stephie is doing better.

Believe me, your kids will be fine.  The doctors know what's wrong and the surgery is necessary for them to get better and they will.

Best of luck and you guys are also in my prayers.

Joy•Bill•Geripie•Chris Thank u all for you support. I am very anxious to think that we r on a less than 12 hr count down. My baby boy has ate all of his favorite foods over the weekend. We have had a fun filled week. He played his 2 nd tball game today. He luvs to play ball. He said goodbye to his team for the season. He understand that his body will need rest in order to be healthy again. I have explained only what I think his 4 yr old mind can understand. We lookforward to his life going bk to normal once he is fully recovered. I know God has a special calling for his life. He is destined for greatness. I know God is in control. I have to stay positive and focused. Super mommy mode. I don't know any of u personally but I will say everything happens for a reason. You all have helped me so very much with your kind words and advice. U all have given me a hope that in a world so unknown there are still caring compassionate people. Bless u all!!!! Ill let y'all know how tomorrow goes.

I will provide for their needs before they ask and I will help them while they are still asking for help. Isaiah 65:24 Thank God for everyones prayers. The huge hurdle is out of the way. He did well thru the surgery. He was given a g-tube in case he did not respond well to the clear liquid diet. After surgery they tried to take him off the oxygen. He did not respond well to that. He was in icu. Finally yesterday he started to do better he was taken off oxygen. we moved out of there to a less critical floor. He is slowly getting better. He will have to get off the iv and have a bowl movement before the Dr. even consider him going home. Do u guys have any advice? Hes on a soft diet.
