Hi all,

I had 2cm haital hernia and just had my surgery don from one week ago and i feel something like GERD or Heartburn sometimes ,really i cant decide if its was real feels or just because am thinking too much also i had anxiety disorder .

After surgery i stop taking my PPIs for four days thin my surgeon told me i should take on capsule day after day then stop it later .

Today i feel like i need to clear my throat many times , im scared if that mean the GERD come again .

Dos anyone can tell if that is normal or not and really most had need about six month to healing ?

Whine i can stop my PPIs ?

At 1 week out you are very very early in recovery. You can have reflux like symptoms for several weeks while things are healing. The wrap area will continue to swell until about week 2 or 3 and then gradually go down. While it is swollen the wrap doesn't work as well as it will when fully healed.

Depending on how damaged your esophagus is will also determine how long it takes to feel better. This surgery takes a long time to fully heal, think marathon not a sprint.

Take time to relax and let your body heal and get used to it's new design.

Take care,
Bill

Some surgeons require you to use PPIs for a while after the surgery. None of mine did though. This is some thing you should really talk to your surgeon about though.
