I feel that the term "hypersensitive esophagus" is used when the doctors do not understand the actual source of the reflux. Early on, I was diagnosed with the same term, but the suggested solution was to change PPI's to something stronger or have the proven laparoscopic NF surgery with a top notch surgeon.
Later on, the Linx was introduced but the limited data was too new for a sound medical decision to be based on. I know of 2 GI docs that were doing the Stretta and Esophyx TIF at one time and are doing very few now, due to the lack of efficacy and sometimes, safety (in the case of Esophyx.)
I went for the stronger PPI, which was 80 Mg/day of Protonix at the time. Now i'm taking 60 Mg/day of Dexilant.
